CNM’s 11th Annual Conference on Teaching and Learning

Conference Objectives

The purpose of the conference is to provide high-quality and relevant professional development in teaching and learning for faculty members of two-year higher education institutions. Conference sessions will promote classroom best practices that lead to optimal outcomes for our students. The conference will enable the regional community of two-year higher education faculty to build fellowship in a professional environment and create opportunities for networking and partnership between the schools represented.

The day of the conference will include:

  • Continental breakfast and all-day refreshments
  • Choice of two lunch options (select your preference in the registration form)
  • Multiple simultaneous sessions addressing evidence-based teaching practices and a variety of topics in teaching and learning, including student engagement, online learning, diversity and equity, use of technology, and student accommodations. Presenters come from CNM and many other institutions across New Mexico.
  • Resource tables highlighting exciting semester or program initiatives

These are some of the big questions Maricel Herrera has grappled with and found answers to in her career as a higher education leader, certified personal and executive coach, speaker, first-generation student, researcher, practitioner, and mother to a college student.

Maricel Herrera is a high-impact thought leader with over 25 years of experience providing and empowering diverse audiences with an arsenal of tangible tools and ideas for their success. Her journey from first generation housing projects in New York City to academia fueled her strong belief in the power of education and relationships to transform lives.

Her work as founding director of an award-winning training center ensured that relationships that meaningfully engage students remain difference makers. Maricel holds a Graduate Degree in Education, Certificates in Advanced Leadership and Coaching, is the author of two books, and has received national recognition for Outstanding Student Advocacy. She is the CEO of Mariselspeaks LLC which provides consulting, training and speaking services nationwide and regularly shares her expertise in podcasting. Marisel is committed to amplifying the experiences of the first generation of diverse students and professionals and is a catalyst to ignite others to live a higher standard and on fire.

Conference cost

The registration fee for the one-day event is $149, which includes conference materials, breakfast, lunch and refreshments. Registration fee No Not Including housing and transportation.

The private conference rate for a room at the Embassy Suites is $129 per night (+ taxes and fees) and can be accessed through this link: Embassy Suites 2023 CNM . Conference. Rooms must be booked before December 15, 2022 to qualify for the reduced conference rate.

Conference registration

Conference registration will open on November 21, 2022 and end on December 16, 2022. Registration information will be available on this website and via email.
